Colleagues at Asda Colne are urging local people to nominate a local charity or organisation to receive a financial reward.
The store is searching for charities, organisations or projects in the area, which help and support the local community and will be rewarding one local cause with a £500 donation.
We want our customers to help us to find a local cause that is in need of our supportCommunity Champion, Diane Springthorpe
It is all part of the store’s “Chosen by you, given by us” initiative.
Customers are invited to nominate a cause by filling out a nomination card, which they can find on the store’s community board, or via the store locator page at www.asda.com, or simply by telling the Community Champion, Diane Springthorpe, in store.
Once all the nominations have been received, a shortlist of three will be selected and customers will then be asked to vote for the one they feel is most deserving.
The cause which receives the most votes will be presented with a £500 donation and the runners up will receive £200 each.
Diane said: “We want our customers to help us to find a local cause that is in need of our support.
“We want to reward that organisation with this donation to help them to continue to do their fantastic work in the community.
“I’m looking forward to hearing all about the great things going on in the local area, I’m sure there are lots of deserving causes.”
The donations have been funded by the Asda Foundation, which was set up in 1988 to support local good causes chosen by Asda colleagues, and is funded by profits from the midweek National Lottery draw.
