The stalwart efforts of Fence Friends Park Fund to rebuild the Fence Children’s Playground is really gaining momentum and uniting villagers behind the campaign.
More than 130 people got together in the Fence Gate Inn’s Banqueting Suite for an evening of dining, dancing, fun and fund-raising.
Guests sat down to a meal of roasted Mediterranean vegetable soup followed by Fence Gate’s famous sausages and mash and then by delicious cakes. Then the local band Splinter, who donated their time free of charge, provided music for dancing which went on until the early hours.
The star attraction during the evening was the festive “Rodeo Reindeer” which, for £3 per head, many guests tried with varying degrees of success, to ride without being thrown off.
This, together with raffles and an auction, raised the magnificent sum of £,2109 on the night and brings the Park Fund’s total so far to a fantastic £18,000!
