Union flag was flying upside down
On closer inspection it seems whoever attached the flag to the mast isn’t aware there is a right and a wrong way of flying the flag.
The one at Mitton Church is flying upside down which, in some circles, signifies “distress”. The broadest of the white diagonal bands should be at the top nearest the flagpole. This flag had presumably been flying for the past week to commemorate Remembrance day.
Maybe in future a little more care should be taken or the person concerned will be kept behind in detention and given 50 lines to write out.
