Pendle marks 60th anniversary of Queen’s Coronation

People of Pendle came out in force to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.

A “Big Lunch”, which included a barbecue, a bouncy castle, and Pendle Leisure Sports Development activities, was held at North Valley Community Centre.

Attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Coun. Smith Benson and Mrs Margaret Ingham, the event also boasted a white elephant stall, tombola, raffle, bottle stall, card stall, blood pressure monitoring, displays by Kano Bushi Ryu Jujitsu, singing by the Pendle Youth and Children’s choirs, a tuck shop run by the youth club and a marvellous display of bromeliads by Mr Vic Hollings. Riot gear was demonstrated by PC Claire Sharples.

Chairman of North Valley Residents’ Association, Mr Jim Smart thanked everybody who helped make the event successful, especially Mrs Diane Springthorp and Colne’s Asda who provided the food for the barbecue and the bottle stall.
