Boy (12) suffers head injury in car and bike collision

A 12-year-old boy has suffered a head injury after a collision between a car and the pedal cycle he was riding in Barnoldswick.

The incident between the bike and Nissan X-Trail occurred at approximately 3-10pm in Kelbrook Road close to West Craven High School and the Texaco garage.

Police said the boy is conscious and breathing and has been taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Kelbrook Road was closed for about an hour from the Rainhall Road crossroads in Barnoldswick and the Salterforth Lane crossroads in Salterforth, however it was reopened at 4-35pm.
