Burnley organisation nominated for trio of awards for work it does to provide affordable houses, reduce homelessness and help those hardest hit by pandemic

The Northern Housing Awards recently announced that Calico Homes, part of the Calico Group, has been successful in three categories, recognising the work it does to provide affordable housing, tackle homelessness and partner with other businesses, charities and agencies to create a covid response hub in the community.
The categories are: Regeneration Scheme of the Year (Empty Homes Scheme) Resident Support/Advice Programme of the Year ( Burnley Together) Best Development for Social / Affordable Rent ( Florence Avenue)

Hide AdThrough the Empty Homes Scheme, Calico Homes has so far renovated 94 previously empty, often derelict, homes to create high-quality, affordable housing for let in the area.
This scheme has also helped to make neighbourhoods more attractive, creating sustainable communities for current and future generations.
Burnley Together was set up in March last year as an emergency response to support local people through the Covid19 pandemic.
More than a year later, Calico Homes remains a key partner as the hub continues to offer people in the community the support they need, through food parcels, debt and housing advice and much more.

Hide AdThe Florence Avenue project utilised empty land to create 24 bungalows, providing a mixture of affordable independent living homes for over 55’s, supported living for those requiring additional care and homes ideal for young families, establishing a multi-generational, vibrant neighbourhood.
Calico Homes has pledged to continue to provide more affordable housing and make it a top priority.
It has also made a long-term commitment to prevent homelessness and reduce rough sleeping in the area.

The virtual awards ceremony will take place on May 13th, when the winners will be announced.
