Colourful balloon arch welcome for pupils returning to their desks at Burnley primary school

Today marked the return of all students to their classrooms for the first time in months since the start of the pandemic.

And staff and students at St Mary Magdalene's RC Primary made a balloon arch to welcome back pupils and parents.

Headteacher Mrs Bridget Parkinson, said: "It was a real privilege to welcome all the children back to school today, not just vulnerable children and those with parents who are critical workers.

" It wasn't just the children who were smiling this morning. Many parents and carers have had a very difficult time juggling jobs, children, devices, home learning and the anxieties of the lockdown.
