They knocked two hours off their original estimated time of 16 hours to finish the Burnley Way, a challenging walk reaching heights of 6,000 feet through fields, parks, old farms and Forest of Burnley woodlands to the wild South Pennine high moorland routes where the weather and terrain can be rough, even in the summer.

Daniel came up with the idea to raise funds for the hospice to thank staff for the care they gave to his and Kevin's grandmother, Theresa Tempest.

When he heard about the challenge Kevin volunteered to do the walk with Daniel and the duo, who completed the Burnley Way earlier this month, were joined by friend David Harris for the full walk and another pal Jonathan Kearney who did 20 miles with them.

And Kevin's dog Silvio also joined in with the challenge.

Quantity surveyor Daniel, who lives with his partner Kate and stepdaughter Poppy (22), said: "We completed the walk in 14 hours, 10 minutes, a time I was really happy with."
