Clitheroe Fire Station's watch manager, Dave McGrath, said: "Four fire engines were called to the scene and we spent hours extinguishing the blaze. In fact, even in the early hours of this morning, crew members remained on the site damping down. We had to stop the fire from spreading to the bales of hay in the barn. Luckily, there were no animals in the barn that needed rescuing or in the nearby stables. A joint investigation between the police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is under way to determine the cause of the blaze."
