Scuba diving in Clitheroe and fishing in Burnley - Pendle school embraces aquatic events
Putting a oceanic-based slant on learning, Sacred Heart RC Primary School on Red Lane in Colne have tapped into the fascinating worlds of angling, snorkeling, marine biology, and the coastline to treat students to a range of events that will get even the most ardent sun-dodger in the mood for their holidays.
The school's beach-themed sports day is taking place on Thursday, July 5th, with Sacred Heart looking to make use of their new running track. To be unveiled from 12.30-13.00, the track is sure to be well used, with the children already keen athletes, getting in plenty of running every day as part of their healthy lifestyles at school.

As part of the school's end-of-year 'Blue Planet' project, the school's Year 6s have enjoyed recent trips to Cornfield Fisheries to learn about angling from Mark Smedley, an angling guru at MS Angling Education, while some of the junior children tried their hand at scuba diving at Clitheroe Swimming pool courtesy of Michael Turner from Reefers and Wreckers.
Children from the whole school have also enjoyed a trip to the Sealife Centre in Blackpool and then spent the afternoon at St Anne's beach, while the infant children from KS1 are going pond dipping at Wycoller.
