Plans for 200 new homes on a green field area of Nelson have been registered with Pendle Council.

Liberata has submitted an outline application seeking access only at this stage for the homes at Further Clough Head off Bamford Street with the access off Marsden Hall Road South.

According to supporting documentation for the application, which wraps around allotments off Messenger Street, the eastern part of the site has been designated as housing land and the proposal delivers a “holistic, sustainable and attractive scheme which support the vitality and future viability of the Nelson area, helping to deliver wider benefits to the surrounding area”.

The plans are for a mixture of housing types, ranging from starter homes through to four and five bedroom family homes, and the development would retain existing woodland around Clough Head Beck, trees where possible at different points around the site and improve pedestrian access to the countryside by creating links with the existing public rights of way.

The application also includes associated open space, highways, landscaping, infrastructure provisions and an emergency access route off Messenger Street.

Pendle Council’s planning department anticipate the application appearing in front of the council’s Nelson Committee in either December or January.
