Colne’s Admiral Lord Rodney pub is holding a memorial event on Sunday, a year after its landlord Andy Gildea - well-known as Gilly and respected throughout Colne - sadly passed away.

Andy’s loss is still felt by all who knew him and they felt a charity event with live music and real ale at The Rodney would be a fitting way to remember him.

It will be opening the doors at 2pm and have several bands lined up to play throughout the day, all playing free of charge.

Local breweries Reedley Hallows, Daleside, Prospect and Bowland have each supplied a barrel of real ale to be sold for charity, including the “Gilly’s Revenge” that they served in Gilly’s memory at Christmas.

Organiser Brian Sutcliffe said: “We’ll also be asking for a suggested donation of £2 or more upon entry. All money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.”
