Audience members saw a visibly upset Cody calling her first live appearance last Saturday “just an awful night”.

Mentor Boy George said the occasion had led to her being out of her comfort zone for the first time before telling her: “This is your comeback performance.”

And she did not disappoint. Her beautiful rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” was hailed as “amazing” by her mentor.

“Look at how happy I look,” he beamed. “I’m the happiest person in Elstree and all surrounding areas. You nailed it, amazing.”

Fellow judge Paloma Faith said: “I would buy her album tomorrow. I was upset because I really wanted her to be on my team. I’m just such a big fan.”

Ricky Wilson added: “I find it funny that somebody who is so down to earth and funny backstage can have a voice that is galactic. It was incredible.”

During the week Cody and fellow Team Boy George member Vangelis met with Boy George’s stylist as they worked on what outfits they would wear for the upcoming show.

After their individual performances the pair sang “Victims” with the Culture Club star. A delighted Cody saying afterwards: “Oh my God it’s been amazing.”

The final of The Voice will be aired on BBC One on Saturday at 7pm.
