Generous shoppers shared their groceries when Burnley Rotary Club asked for their help.

They amassed 21 overflowing trolleys during a collection in the foyer at Asda in Colne, and were particularly impressed by three young lads who collected money from their friends and filled one of the trolleys.

The non-perishable collection, worth an estimated £4000, was given out through the Women’s Refuge and the Salvation Army in the Nelson area.

Said Rotary member Gerald Holden: “Our thanks go to the Colne Asda store for allowing the collection and more importantly to the public for their outstanding generosity, and in particular the young lads.”
