As excitement is mounting for the forthcoming Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics next February, Pendle Ski Club is opening its doors to the public tomorrow.

And it is giving visitors the chance to meet Great Britain skier Dave Ryding (26), from Bretherton, as well as enjoying beginner ski or snowboard sessions for free, all part of a Slide2Sochi Olympic-themed roadshow.

The club is Clitheroe Road, Sabden, up the Nick of Pendle. The Slide2Sochi roadshow, run by governing body Snowsport England in conjunction with Pendle Ski Club, will make a great family day out with a lunchtime barbeque, ski race demos, and a raffle.

There will also be the chance to wish our British winter-sport athletes’ good luck for the Olympic Games by signing the giant Slide2Sochi snowball which is touring the country and will eventually make its way to Sochi.

The beginner ski and snowboard sessions are completely free and can be taken up on the day. This will be the first time the newly-refurbished beginners slope will be used by the public. There is also the chance to find out more about taking up snowsports and becoming the next skiing or snowboarding hero as part of the Go Ski Go Board participation campaign.

Dave Ryding, who is currently GB number one in slalom and close to qualification for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, learned to ski at the family-orientated Pendle Ski Club and will be on hand to pass on tips and words of encouragement to children and adults alike.

The Slide2Sochi roadshow runs from 11am-4pm tomorrow. For more information about Pendle Ski Club visit and for about Slide2Sochi roadshows around the country visit
