Solicitors pedal their way to £1,000 cancer cash

Partner John and colleague Leonie, who are based at the company’s Accrington practice but live in Clitheroe, joined Dave Beal, of Forbes’ Blackburn office, and Sarah Rogers, from the Preston branch, in the Ribble Valley Ride.

The ride, held earlier this month and organised by the Rotary Clubs of Clitheroe and Accrington, attracted a total of 273 participants, who chose to cycle one of three courses – a 100 mile “elite” route, which was tackled by John, a 60-mile “expert” one, which Leonie, Dave and Sarah undertook, or a 25-mile “enthusiast” course for the more occasional cyclist.

All the routes started and finished at Oakhill College, Whalley, and were designed to encompass some of the Ribble Valley’s most beautiful scenery. Proceeds from cyclists’ entry fees were donated to the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, but many entrants, like the Forbes team, also raised additional money through sponsorship.

John said: “It was great to see that a number of my colleagues from across the firm entered the Ribble Valley Ride along with myself. We were proud to be representing the firm and taking part in such a fantastic event, which was raising money for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Despite the many very steep hills, we thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The Rosemere Cancer Foundation is dedicated to helping to provide the very best care possible for cancer patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria, wherever they are treated.

The foundation raises much needed funds for local cancer research, patient welfare projects, additional equipment and training that cannot be provided by the NHS.
