Teenage landscape gardener Sophie Metcalfe has created history in her much loved hometown of Earby.
For at the age of 18 she has become the youngest ever councillor to be appointed to Earby Town Council.
I think it’s important to know what’s happening in the place where you live and also get involved with events and activities so at least you can have a saySophie Metcalfe
It was a natural step for Sophie, who has also just passed her driving test, who has always been interested in what is going on in her hometown and how she can get involved with the community.
Sophie of Red Lion Street, said: “I think it’s important to know what’s happening in the place where you live and also get involved with events and activities so at least you can have a say.’’
Before becoming a fully fledged town councillor Sophie, who is working alongside her boyfriend, Daniel Ogden (21) served on several committees and admits she would quite fancy a second career in politics.
A former pupil of West Craven High School, Sophie has just graduated from Craven College, Skipton, before she started working full time. She lives with her mum, Sharon and older sister Natalie (21).
