Youngsters who spend their days looking after their families were given a break from caring by businesses in the area.
Solicitors Donald, Race and Newton, of Burnley; Farnell Land Rover, of Nelson; Moving People of Accrington, and the Coldwell Activity Centre, Burnley, helped to bring Christmas cheer by supporting the local charity Young Carers.
The charity tries to assist by arranging breaks for youngsters from their responsibilities to help them manage the emotional strain of caring for a family member with mental health or substance misuse problems.
The staff and directors at Donald, Race and Newton provided Christmas presents and donated £500 to support the charity’s work.
Farnell Land Rover and Moving People gave a group of youngsters a great evening out at the theatre so see the pantomime “Cinderella” at Manchester Opera House. The evening was paid for
by Farnell who also treated them to a meal and Christmas presents, and Moving People provided the coach service and gave the youngsters a selection box.
Staff at the Coldwell Activity Centre hosting a fun and festive Christmas party for the young carers with evening of food, inflatable indoor archery, games, presents and entertainment from DJ Jedi.
Over the last 10 years the Young Carers charity has have helped and supported more than 500 young people from across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
