Look out for STAN the Van delivering recycling advice during National Recycle Week this week.

Pendle and Rossendale Councils are working together to help their residents brush up on which recyclables go into which container.

And staff on STAN – the Services To A Neighbourhood vehicle which the two councils share – will be on hand to answer residents’ questions.

STAN will be in Pendle from Wednesday to Friday at the following venues:

• Wednesday: B & Q, Brierfield.

• Thursday: Brierfield Health Centre.

• Friday: Market Square, Nelson.

Staff will be available at the vehicle from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The two councils now share a waste and recycling co-ordinator following a restructuring exercise at Pendle Council.

Carole Taylor splits her time between the two roles at Pendle and Rossendale Councils.

“Through joint working we hope to increase recycling rates in our two boroughs, to help us meet targets in the Lancashire Waste Strategy,” she said.

Coun. James Starkie, Pendle’s Executive Member for Waste, said: “The vast majority of Pendle residents are keen recyclers and do all they can to recycle as much of their household waste as possible.

“Having STAN in Pendle this week, which is National Recycle Week, gives us the ideal opportunity to remind our residents of what they can recycle through the doorstep collections and which recycling container to use.”
