Students pick up tips from top chefs
The Food and Nutrition students went to The Boathouse in Appley Bridge, near Wigan, and they were given an insight into the industry and life as a chef.
They explored the kitchen and learnt about some industrial equipment as well as seasonal and local produce and exciting ingredients.

Hide Ad“The students even had the opportunity to taste unusual foods - such as purple potatoes, white carrots, edible pansies and miniature fruits,” said teacher Jen Hughes.
“They worked with the owners and chefs of the restaurant and produced a starter, main course and dessert. They learnt how the chefs present their dishes and had a go themselves.
“The Year Nine students were a credit to the school and the restaurant have agreed to work with Shuttleworth College again in the near future.”
