Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed the tidy-up of an old electricity sub-station that had become a blight in Trent Road, Nelson.

The site was strewn with litter, people had been climbing on the structure and a large chunk of the rendering had fallen off the building.

Following contact from local residents, Mr Stephenson contacted Electricity North West, who are responsible for the site. They agreed to clear up the site, install a gate, re-render the external walls and paint the doors. The work has now been completed.

He said: “I am pleased that this problem site has been cleaned up. I am also encouraged that Electricity North have reviewed the process of maintenance of their sub-stations and that all distribution sub-stations will now be inspected every six months.”
