An appeal that will see the gardens of Pendleside Hospice blooming with sunflower plaques dedicated to lost loves ones has been launched.
Planted in the hospice grounds, the sunflowers will provide a colourful display to welcome in summer, with each plaque having the name of a loved one handwritten on it.
These will then be planted in the hospice grounds at a special Celebration of Life service on Saturday, June 2nd to bloom throughout June, which is traditionally Hospice Sunflower Month.
To acknowledge each donation a sunflower card will be sent out along with a voucher redeemable at the hospice shops or hospice reception for an enamel sunflower pin badge.
The Celebration of Life Service at 2pm on June 2nd is open to all, and after dedicating the sunflowers there will be cream teas and other refreshments available, as well as various hospice stalls.
There will also be the opportunity to look around the beautiful hospice gardens and to view all the sunflowers that have been dedicated. Sunflower plaques will be available to buy should anyone wish to take one away and plant in their own garden or planter at home.
Sunflower Memories was first held at Pendleside in 2016. Last year saw 721 sunflower plaques adorn the hospice gardens, with more than 150 people enjoying the hospice gardens when they attended the Celebration of Life service.
In total £9,418 was raised in 2017 from Sunflower Memories.
To dedicate a sunflower plaque or for further information visit www.pendleside.org.uk or ring on 01282 440120. The appeal has once again been sponsored by Alderson and Horan Funeral Services.
