Thousands of people had a tail-wagging time this weekend as they celebrated the first birthday of Pendle Dogs In Need.
Held at Hodge House, off Regent Street, in Nelson, the fun event included stalls, a dog show, and a grooming demonstration.
It also provided an opportunity for nurse Paula Knowles and primary school deputy headteacher Sharon Ashley to reflect on just how far they have come since setting up the centre in 2013.
Miss Knowles, of Victoria Street, Barrowford, said: “When we set this up. we said ‘let’s start a small little rescue centre - we will rescue about 20 to 30 dogs a year’. We did not imagine for one minute to achieve what we have, it is just unbelievable. Team PDIN are really close now and it is so special.”
