Chartered civil engineer Adrian Harper is Ribble Valley Council’s new head of engineering services.
Adrian (31) of Barrowford, was born and brought up in Derby and studied civil and structural engineering at Bradford University.
He worked for major UK construction company McAlpine on the M25 and the Dinorwig hydro-electric power station in Snowdonia.
The post of engineer and agent for construction company Fitzpatrick at the Bluewater shopping mall in Kent followed, before he attained chartered engineer status at Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council, where he contributed to the design of the Shaw main outfall scheme.
After a spell at Burnley Council as drainage engineer, Adrian completed a 12-year stint at Hyndburn Borough Council, initially as a drainage engineer and then as engineering manager, where he designed the Huncoat pumped storage scheme, Accrington’s skatepark and fountain area, the town’s first CCTV system and a significant contaminated land reclamation project.
An office director for Capita Symonds in East Lancashire, Adrian most recently managed two £1m. cemetery projects for Blackburn with Darwen Council. He is a father-of-three and enjoys cycling.
