Police are appealing for information after a van driver ran from the scene of a crash in Barnoldswick this afternoon.

The collision between a Ford Transit Connect van and a Toyota Aygo occurred in Kelbrook Road outside West Craven High School at approximately 3-35pm.

Police said the man driving the van, described as in his mid 30s, with dark hair and wearing workman style clothing, fled the scene towards Barnoldswick town centre.

A woman and a child also travelling in the van have been spoken to by police.

The woman driver of the Toyota Aygo was cut from the vehicle and placed on a spinal board complaining of neck and back injuries, although it is believed to be precautionary at this stage.

Police, fire and the ambulance services all attended the scene and the road is currently still blocked.

Sgt Shaun Pearson said: “Our investigation into the incident is ongoing and will continue after the road has been cleared and the vehicles recovered.”

Anybody with any information on the collision is asked to call police on 101 with the log number of 792 of July 16th.
