An 11-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being involved in a road accident on the Nelson-Colne boundary during this morning’s rush-hour.
The incident occurred in Regent Street as traffic was being diverted away from Leeds Road when a major water burst on the Nelson-Colne border led to its closure.
Police and an ambulance were called to the scene of the accident, near Edward Street, at 8-40am. It was reported that the boy had been in collision with a van heading from Nelson towards Colne and had suffered facial injuries.
The boy was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. It is understood his injuries are not serious.
Police have been investigating the cause of the accident.
