A CAR crashed through the frontage of a takeaway on Leeds Road, Nelson, on Friday evening.

The incident happened at 10-25 p.m. at Santa’s Pizzas near Hildrop. The driver of the red Volkswagen suffered only minor injuries but was arrested by police. The 24-year-old from Nelson has been reported for an alleged drink driving offence. His passenger was uninjured.

A passing six-year-old child was cut after being hit by flying glass, but had no serious bleeding and just had a minor injury.

The shop is boarded up but has signs on the frontage to let people know that it is still open as usual.
