Tributes to community champion
Crowds of fellow employees from the town’s Asda store clutched cream roses and released green balloons as a tribute to Mrs Michelle Holmes, who collapsed and died suddenly at the supermarket two weeks ago, as her funeral cortege stopped at the Princess Way store.
The touching scenes played out before the cortege continued to take Mrs Holmes (46) on her final journey to Burnley Crematorium where her funeral took place. Mrs Holmes, a mum-of-one, was Asda’s community champion, in charge of allocating thousands of pounds of money to groups and charities in the Burnley area.
She leaves her husband David, son Aiden and her parents.
