A former postman, described as “a Trawdener through and through”, has died — one day before his 50th wedding anniversary.
Tributes have now been paid to David Blackburn (74) who recently lost his short battle with lung cancer.
Mr Blackburn had worked for the Post Office for 31 years, before retiring at 65-years-old.
The former Colne Park High School student, whose main interest was vintage cars, leaves his wife Audrey, children Nigel and Fiona, and granddaughter Ella (13).
Mrs Blackburn (70), of Hall Road, said: “David was loyal to Trawden – he wouldn’t have moved anywhere else.
“He loved to go to the community centre on a Friday. He was always there for the children – we were as close as a family could be.”
Mr Blackburn’s funeral took place at Skipton Crematorium, where Mrs Blackburn said the family were “overwhelmed” by support.
