Two men deny Burnley double murder

TWO men accused of a brutal double murder at a house in Burnley have denied the charges.

Kenneth Howson (25), of Williams Road, and Daniel Waddington (22), of Pine Street, both Burnley, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday to deny murdering 55-year-olds James Atkinson and Neil Gilmore on October 4th.

The dead men were found at a house in Waddington Avenue, Brunshaw, sparking a major police investigation.

Forensics officers combed the downstairs flat for evidence in the days following the murder which shocked the Brunshaw community.

Detectives confirmed at the time that the men had been dead for up to 48 hours before their bodies were discovered following “a violent attack”.

The two defendants were remanded in custody by Judge Stuart Baker and are due to face a two to three week trial, beginning on March 1st next year.
