An 11-year-old boy hit by a car in Colne yesterday afternoon was airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
Police confirmed they received a call just after 3-40pm following the collision involving a Vauxhall Corsa in Rutland Street.
Emergency services attended the scene, and an air ambulance took the Year 7 pupil, believed to be from Park High School, to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Residents said traffic was diverted while police dealt with the incident.
North West Ambulance Service, who arrived on the scene at around 4-05pm, this morning confirmed there was “no major trauma”.
A North West Air Ambulance spokesman said: “We can confirm we attended an incident at 3-45pm yesterday. We were the first on the scene after the road traffic accident involving a young male. He had suspected spinal injuries, and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.”
Following the incident, residents have been discussing road safety in the local area.
A meeting regarding the crossing in Byron Road will be held at Byron Road Community Centre between 7pm and 8-30pm on January 30th. Refreshments will be available.
