Voters go to the polls in 16 of Pendle Council’s 20 wards today to elect new councillors to serve for the next four years.

The council currently has no party in overall control – the Conservatives are the largest party with 19, Labour has 17, the Liberal Democrats 12 and the British National Party one.

The Conservatives are defending five seats, Labour six, the Lib Dems four and the BNP one.

There are no elections in Blacko and Higherford, Old Laund Booth, Higham and Pendleside and Foulridge.

Voters in all 20 wards will be voting in the European Parliament elections at the same time.

Polls close at 10pm, the count will start at 9-30am tomorrow and results will appear here as soon as they are announced.
