Woman accused of defrauding her elderly aunt

A Colne woman appeared before Burnley magistrates accused of taking out loans in her elderly aunt’s name and stealing more than £60,000 from her when she was her carer in Trawden.

Nina Connolly (44) is charged with fraud by false representation. She is accused of obtaining loans in Annie Normanton’s name in the sum of £20,752.36, from 118 Money, Hitachi Finance, UK Credit and George Banco.Com Ltd, between November 1st, 2014 and February 6th, 2015.

She also faces an allegation of fraud by abuse of position, involving £34,907.64, between December 15th, 2013 and November 9th, 2015 and theft of £3,783, between August 26th, 2015 and October 12th, 2015.

Connolly, of Duke Street, Winewall, indicated not guilty pleas and was unconditionally bailed until January 3rd for a hearing at Burnley Crown Court.
