A “distressed” drunken woman was seen jumping in front of moving vehicles outside a Burnley nightclub in the early hours, a court heard.

Jemma Louise Samuels (24) was shouting and swearing and was still trying to step into the road even though police were trying to help her. She carried on shouting and swearing, started throwing things into the road and ended up being arrested because of her persistent behaviour.

Burnley magistrates were told after the 7-30am incident outside Vogue, Samuels, of Mansfield Crescent, Brierfield, was offered assistance at the Women’s Centre, but had not attended any of the appointments.

The defendant, who has 11 previous offences on her record, admitted being drunk and disorderly on Hammerton Street on July 8th. She was fined £40, with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
