Good news for Pendle’s countryside – the planning appeal for three wind turbines at Jerusalem Farm, Skipton Old Road, Colne, was turned down on cumulative visual impact grounds.
However, an application for a 48m overall height turbine off Coal Pit Lane, Trawden, will come before councillors soon.
Such a large industrial structure will obviously have a visual impact for miles around.
Farming needs a helping hand financially, particularly hill-farming, but spoiling the countryside with technology that does not work is not the answer. We do need to have some joint thinking on how to keep it viable though as farmers’ hard work has shaped the landscape we all take for granted.
