Bailey ranks among best in Lancs League

Nelson professional Ryan Bailey finished the Lancashire League season with the fourth best batting average and ninth most runs.

Of batsmen who had played at least 10 innings, champions Ramsbottom’s captain and paid man Daryn Smith came out on top with 774 runs at 86, ahead of Burnley amateurs David Brown (758 at 75.8) and Vishal Tripathi (959 at 63.93).

Bailey finished with 618 runs at 61.8, with a best of 126 not out.

Colne professional Yassen Vallie was sixth with 393 at 43.66, with a top score of 73.

Skipper Neil Thompson was best Nelson amateur with 279 at 25.36, with Chris Walton top man at Colne in his first season in the league, scoring 347 at 23.13.

With the ball, of bowlers who took at least 10 wickets, Nelson’s Toxy Hussain was 15th in terms of wickets, claiming 35 (average 16.02), with Colne’s Danny Kegg 21st with 30 (average 19.26).

In the Ribblesdale League, Barnoldswick’s Abdul Saddique was fifth top batsman, and best amateur, with 628 runs, at 36.94, ahead of pro Shashrika Pussegolla in seventh (581 at 71.46).

Earby pro Anton Muller was 15th with 434 at 27.13.

Pussegolla was fifth top wicket taker in the league as he claimed 51 at an average of 17.47, with Earby amateur Jake Hargreaves 13th with 36 at 17.36.
