Barnoldswick saw their lead at the top of Section B in the Ribblesdale Cricket League cut after they lost by four wickets to Salesbury at Ribchester Road.
The visitors, who were knocked out of the Twenty20 competition with defeat to Padiham, set a competitive score as Sri Lankan professional Shashrika Pussegolla’s knock of 72, which included four fours and five sixes, helped them to a 200-6 total from 45 overs.
The paid man put on a 117-run stand for the third wicket with Amir Saddique who fired 32 before being ousted by Salesbury’s pro Neil Hornbuckle.
Opener Abdul Saddique (25), Umar Saddique (13) and N. Ahmed (10) also registered double figures. Sam Bristol was the stand out performer for the hosts with the ball, accruing figures of 5-36.
In reply, Mohammed Saffii, Abdul Saddique and Pussegolla took two wickets apiece but they failed to prevent their opponents from hitting their target.
Joe Rawlinson’s unbeaten 75 did most of the damage, skipper Liam Parkinson added 53 to the equation while Josh Bristol chipped in with 30.
Elsewhere Earby, who were beaten in the Twenty20 by Read, lost out to Baxenden at back Lane and remain at the foot of the division.
Matthew Garner’s men, who have yet to win this term, set the hosts a target of 150 as Matt Wilson top-scored with 44. Luke Hipgrave (15), Jake Hargreaves (19), N. Tayforth (21) and J. Greenbank (15 not out) also contributed.
But they couldn’t contain Baxenden’s South African paid man Brad Moses in the reply as he made an unbeaten 66 to pave the way for a five-wicket win. Jake Hargreaves finished with figures of 3-40 for the away side.
Barnoldswick host Brinscall at Victory Park in the league tomorrow while Earby entertain Feniscowles at the Applegarth.
