Barlick and Earby through to last eight

Both Earby and Barnoldswick progressed in the Ramsbottom Cup, but were frustrated in the league on Saturday.

Barnoldswick’s home game against Brooksbottom on Saturday abandoned without a ball being bowled, while Earby lost by 13 runs to Read.

Read totalled 227-9, as Joey Marshall top-scored with 63 – enjoying some luck along the way – and skipper Kyle O’Connor added 38.

Former captain Richard Craddock was the pick of the bowlers with 4-60 off 14 overs, while professional David Crotty claimed 3-63.

Earby were then dismissed for 214, despite 61 from Chris Walton. Captain Matt Haines opened with Walton and made 22, while Crotty chipped in with 19, Sam Munns 26 and Jamaal Alcock a terrific 39 off 18 balls.

Keegan Petersen took 5-68 for Read, while Elliot Lowes added 3-76.

The following day was all about the cup.

Barnoldswick sneaked home by six wickets against Baxenden.

Barlick totalled 169, as Kyle Marshall hit 54.

Matt Nutter added 35, Abdul Saddique 20 and captain Luke Hodgson 22.

Gary Sudworth took 5-28 for Baxenden, who were then dismissed for 163 in reply, as Sajid Akhtar returned 2-33, Abdul Saddique 3-33 and Nutter 3-47.

Earby also advanced to the last eight, as they beat Great Harwood by four wickets after bowling Harwood out for 147.

Craddocktook 3-16 off nine overs, Jake Hargreaves 3-50, Walton 2-36 and Haines 2-20.

In reply, Walton hit 25, Rory Robinson 22 and Adam Yates (19 not out) and Lee Parkinson (29 not out) saw the locals home.

Barnoldswick are at home to Euxton in the quarter-finals on Sunday, June 21st, with Earby at home to Brinscall.

Tomorrow, Earby host Edenfield and Barlick are at Salesbury, wickets pitched at 1-30 p.m.
