A VIRTUOSO bowling perfomance from Barnoldswick helped them to an emphatic victory over Read at Whalley Road.
It was the home side’s first defeat of the season in the Ribblesdale League as they were well beaten by six wickets.
The visitors’ victory was built on the splendid bowling performances from Mohammed Saffii, Abdul Saddique and Shashrika Pussegolla.
Saffii and Saddique took 3-27 and 3-21 respectively and Pussegolla came on as first change and continued the good work.
He returned figures of 4-21 as Read were routed for a paltry 79 inside 25 overs.
Only Kyle O’Connor, Ravi Jangid (19) and Andrew Rushton (11 not out) managed a double-figure score.
In reply, Barnoldswick raced to 46 without loss thanks to an opening partnership between Umar Saddique (26) and Abdul Saddique (19).
They perished in quick succession and Read picked up a couple of further wickets to reduced the visitors for 55-4.
Fortunately for the Barlickers, Pussegolla (nine not out) and Saffii (23 not out) steadied the ship and guided their side to victory.
In a rain interrupted match at William Road, Earby were well beaten Great Harwood.
In a match reduced to 25 overs, Harwood posted 129-4 with Ashen Silva top scoring with a half-century scored at better than a run a ball.
In reply, Earby were never at the races as Paul Holdsworth ripped through their batting card.
He took 6-25 as Earby were bowled out for 80. Daniel Helliwell top scored with 29.
The T20 match on Friday night between Barnoldswick and Earby was abandoned due to the weather.
The Barlickers had posted 116 all out and Earby were on 12-1 in reply when the rain came.
Tonight, Earby are in T20 action against Padiham at home, while Barnoldswick travel to Read.
Tomorrow, Barnoldswick host Euxton and Earby are at home to Whalley.
