Barnoldswick gave their hopes of avoiding the drop a shot in the arm as they won the Ribblesdale League Section A basement battle with Baxenden.
Barlick went into the Victory Park clash two points clear of bottom side Bash, but extended the gap to 12 – though they remain 21 adrift of Padiham, who sit fifth.
Baxenden won the toss and chose to bat, and were bowled out for 171, as Sajid Akhtar took 5-60 and professional Chalana De Silva (pictured)4-39.
Wickets fell at regular intervals, save for a partnership worth 51 for the fourth wicket, between Matt Griffin (46) and Alex Marcroft (26).
Gary Sudworth added 24 from 25 balls late on to help move the score out to a competitive one.
However, Barnoldswick got home by four wickets in 41.1 overs – helped in the main by an opening stand of 91 between De Silva (58) and Amir Saddique (23).
The pair fell at 91, and four more wickets saw the hosts stumble to 143-6, but an unbeaten seventh wicket partnership of 30 between Nabeel Ahmed (18 not out) and Akhtar (10 not out) saw them past the target.
Barnoldswick are at Padiham tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Earby went down at Section A title hopefuls Oswaldtwistle Immanuel, who again closed the gap on leaders Settle, after their win over the champions last week.
Ossy won the toss and batted, with opener Oliver Clare hitting 77, Shubham Khajuria 47 and Daniel Metcalf 50 not out as all contributing to the hosts’ commanding total of 255-5.
Josh Yates took 2-40 for Earby.
In reply, Earby were all out for 118, with Nathan Hodge top scoring with 31 as Khajuria took 3-12 and Niall Heyes 5-47.
