After a 4-3 opening day defeat at Congleton Town, Barnoldswick Town claimed their first points of the season with a 4-1 win at home to AFC Blackpool on Tuesday night.
On Tuesday, Town had skipper Arley Barnes and Harry Thompson missing due to injury.
Into the starting line-up came Carl Ellerton and James Crorken, with new signing Scott Moore on the bench.
Blackpool took a deserved lead four minutes before the break as full back Jamie Nay shot from fully 30 yards out, and Alex Palffy appeared to dive over the ball as it nestled in the bottom right corner.
In injury time Town won a free kick out wide, and from Jake McEneaney’s ball in, Shaun Airey found himself unmarked at the near post, placing his header in off the underside of the bar.
If the first half was all Blackpool the second was the opposite.
On 53 minutes, after a corner was cleared, Joe Gaughan struck a fierce left foot shot that swerved towards the far post, and nestled in the corner to put Town in front.
Then on 69 minutes Ellerton played a magnificent ball into the path of Jon Beckwith who streaked past the stretched defence before shooting into the far corner.
And with three minutes left Town made the game safe, Threlfall crossing to substitute Ben Gorman, who controlled before scoring into the bottom corner.
At Congleton Town, Town went down 4-3 having trailed 4-1 with 20 minutes left, tha nks to goals from Scott McGowan (16), Andy Alston (21), Scott McGowan (49) and Scott Barlow (60), with Liam Britton (36) having sent Town in 2-1 down at half-time.
Gaughan, from the penalty spot, pulled one back after 70 minutes, before Airey’s 89th-minute strike.
Tomorrow sees Town host derby rivals Colne in the FA Cup (kick-off 3 p.m.) before Barlick travel to Padiham on Wednesday night (7-45 p.m.).
