Barton thanks Burnley fans after "toughest decision" to join Rangers
Joey Barton has labelled his imminent move to Rangers as the "toughest decision of my professional life".
The 33-year-old is on the verge of signing a two-year deal with the 54-time Scottish champions having travelled to Glasgow to undergo a medical.
The midfielder, who made 40 appearances for the Clarets as they were promoted to the Premier League, was offered new terms at Turf Moor but has knocked them back.
Taking to social media site, Twitter, the former Manchester City and Newcastle United man, said: "Thanks to all the Burnley fans and everyone connected with the club. Amazing support this year that will live with me for a lifetime.
"Toughest decision of my professional life to leave an amazing set of people and a phenomenal culture behind.
"Club is in a great place on and off the pitch with great custodians at the helm. Thanks again for the opportunity to represent your club."
