Nelson’s derby clash against Colne at Victoria Park, scheduled for tomorrow, has been cancelled.
The friendly game may be rearranged for a later date.
For the Blues, it was due to be their final warm-up game ahead of the new Hallmark Security North West Counties League Premier Division season, which opens on Wednesday, August 10th when Phil Eastwood’s side travel to local rivals Padiham.
Other key dates for the Blues see their first home game of the season on Saturday, August 13th, when they host Atherton Collieries, with a home derby against Barnoldswick Town on Tuesday, August 30th.
The return, at the Silentnight Beds Stadium, will be played on Boxing Day, and Nelson have a fixture on New Year’s Eve at home to Bootle.
The first fixture of the new year is at home to Runcorn Town on Saturday, Janiary 7th.
Nelson claimed a 3-0 win at Euxton Villa on Tuesday night, after their prestige friendly last Thursday at home to FC United of Manchester, who claimed their first win of pre-season with a 4-1 victory.
FC United led 2p-0 at the break through goals from trialist Harry Pratt and George Thomson, and Sam Madeley netted twice in the second half, with the Admirals replying through Zack Dale.
FC United began the game well at Little Wembley, and went ahead early on as Dale Johnson played in Pratt, who finished well with a cool chip.
Pratt then claimed an assist for the second goal, teeing up Thomson, whose 20-yard strike found the net.
In the second half, Madeley made it 3-0, as he tried his luck from outside the area and scored with the help of a deflection.
Nelson kept going, and pulled a goal back through Dale, only for Madeley to claim his second as he latched onto a throughball and converted from a tight angle with a delicate chip.
