Three goals in the last 22 minutes saw the Blues go down to Abbey Hey on Easter Saturday.
On a firm pitch, Nelson’s first corner from Keiran Walmsley was bundled in by George Melling, but the effort was disallowed for a foul on keeper John McIlwaine.
For long periods the sides cancelled each other out, before Melling forced a save from the keeper with a header from Alex Porter’s free kick.
The Blues began to enjoy lots of possession, without any clear cut chances, although just before the break, Adam Nuttall sent a snap shot wide.
In the second period, Nelson dominated, but midway through the half, slightly against the run of play, Tom Murray pounced on a poor clearance to put the visitors ahead, before, with six minutes remaining, substitute Jack Mason broke away to double their lead.
Mason repeated his effort in the last minute.
Nelson are at Congleton tomorrow, and host Maine Road on Wednesday.
