And he joked that stand in skipper James Tarkowski is playing so well, the former centre back could slot in alongside him at present!

While Nick Pope took most of the plaudits as Burnley became the first side in 25 games to come away from Anfield with a result, Tarkowski and Kevin Long also stood strong in a solid defensive display.

Liverpool had scored 75 goals in 34 Premier League games, but had to settle for one from Andy Robertson, before Tarkowksi also chipped in with an assist for Jay Rodriguez’s equaliser.

Burnley have a club Premier League record of 14 clean sheets so far this season, with Long seamlessly replacing injured captain Ben Mee, and Dyche said: “Longy has been excellent. He waits there and he is diligent, professional and looks after himself.

”He has played a lot of football out of the blue and is struggling with his back and his calf and gets out there and delivers another performance.

“But I must say, playing alongside Tarky would be a joy at the moment.

“Ben Mee has been terrific as well, but if I was playing alongside Tarky I think I could manage myself, even with the state I am in with a broken back, I would be alright!”
