The Reds sit 10th in the table with 22 points from 17 games, having scored half as many goals as they had at this time last season, on their way to finishing as runners-up.

Heaton is relishing coming up against the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli, however: “It’s a fantastic game, another great game to look forward to, and we’ll go into it looking to go about it in the manner that we can go and get a win. It’s another fantastic opportunity and one we’re all looking forward to and relishing, but there’s no Lord Mayor’s Show, it’s obviously a great game but it’s important that we go out there, get a performance and do the job, that’s what the heads will be on.

“I think we all know how good they are and how good players they’ve got and what a big side they are, and we’ll certainly give them the healthy respect that we’ve given every team we’ve played this year.

“But we’ll try not to focus too much on the opposition, it’s about how we go about it.”
