Nelson ended their title-winning season in style with a 14th-successive league win on Saturday, taking their tally to 135 goals with a 4-1 success at Rochdale Town.
And striker Peter Wright was again on target, scoring the first and fourth goals, which gave him 38 for the campaign - and the NWC First Division’s Golden Boot!
Having clinched the championship last Monday, manager Mark Fell gave some of his fringe players an outing.
In came Jack Brooks, Lydon Hodgkiss, Jonny Hession and Liam Boswell.
A very uneven pitch saw the Blues struggle to put their passing game together early on, but they went ahead when Hession skipped past his man and, the ball rebounded to Wright, who pivoted and beat the keeper with ease.
In Nelson’s next attack, Joe O’Neill was sent clear and made no mistake.
Robert Grimes spooned a chance over after good approach work, before Wright had an effort chalked off for off-side, and further openings were squandered before Bradbury pulled one back for the hosts before the break.
Rochdale were reduced to 10 men in the second half as Bradbury suffered a head injury, with Town having already used their substitute.
Nelson showed no mercym, and Grimes netted with a sweet left-foot drive, before Wright made the game safe.
That saw Nelson finish with a remarkable 157 goals in total over the season.
Jake Lloyd was man of the match.
