Clarets game cancelled over hooliganism fears.

A friendly match between Burnley and Stockport County has been cancelled amid fears of hooliganism.

The Clarets’ development squad had been due to visit Edgeley Park on July 28th, the same night the first team travel to Fleetwood.

However, Greater Manchester Police has told the National League North club the match would require a full policing operation.

A spokesman for the club said: “We are disappointed that we will not be able to play against Burnley’s youngsters, but the bill runs to several thousand pounds, so with a very heavy heart we have opted to cancel the match completely.”
