Colne Reserves won at Workington on penalties in the first round of the Lancashire League Cup last Thursday.

The Reds were ahead after just 14 seconds, as Workington kicked-off and played the ball into midfield, where Brandon Barski won possesion and fed Perry Jepson, who beat his man and cut inside, and had his shot deflected by a defender past the keeper.

Colne had a number of chances to increase their lead, before Workington equalised on 70 minutes when Richard Johnson was penalised for a tug on Johnny Murray, and the

resulting free kick was blasted into the top corner by Lewis Renvoize.

The game moved into extra time, which saw no further goals, and the tie went to penalties, where Johnson, Alex Grice, Joe Rodriguez, Barski and Daniel Russell all scored to send the Reds through 5-4.

Colne now face another away tie against either Stalybridge Celtic or Ashton Athletic. The reserves are in Galaxy League action on Thursday night at home to Workington.
