Dyche has no issue with influx of foreign managers

But Dyche believes the influx of foreign coaches is mutually beneficial.

Dyche, and Hull City’s Steve Bruce, will bolster a small pool of English coaches in the top flight after promotion, joining Sunderland’s Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew of Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth’s former Clarets boss Eddie Howe.

And while his side display a lot of traditionally British traits, he is a keen student of European and World football, admiring the pressing football of the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in recent years, and in between leaving Watford and taking the Burnley job, he took in a trip to Valencia to study their methods.

Asked about being one of the few English managers, he said: “It is a reality.

“Whether it is frustrating or not is irrelevant.

“It is the way football is viewed.

“It seems the perception is plenty of foreign coaches and manager coming into English football, not just in the Premier League by the way.

“I think that is a good thing in many ways, because you can share all these ideas.

“There is an assumption was that I’d ask them what I do, but they also ask me what I do.

“I think a lot of Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs.

“He was brilliant when we played them, and how we spoke to me about what we were doing, rather than telling me about what Spurs were doing.

“But it’s not just me.

“We suppose we are learning from the overseas managers, and yet they are coming to ask us what we do as well.

“It is a key thing for English managers, as people wouldn’t think that.

“It is a fact there are a lot of foreign managers here, there is a thirst among fans and media.

“There are some very good ones, I must make it clear.

“Forget about whether you are English, British, European, South American, there are some very good managers.

“If you’re good, you’re good and deserve to be doing what you’re doing.”

Meanwhile, it remains quiet on the transfer front, though Burnley have been linked with another goalkeeper, in the shape of West Brom’s Wales international Boaz Myhill.

Burnley have had an initial offer rebuffed by Charlton Athletic for Nick Pope, and have an interest in Southend United’s out of contract Daniel Bentley.

But sources in Birmingham suggest the Clarets could move for the 33-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Hawthorns.

The Clarets are looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, with their only senior option at present being skipper Tom Heaton, after Matt Gilks was released, while Paul Robinson, who signed a short-term deal to the end of the season, has been offered fresh terms, but is yet to commit his future to the club.

Myhill has also been linked with former club Aston Villa.
